Hyperactive (also Indymedias London, Northern England and Notts and others) now also has embedd codes (to the right of the video) - do those work on the blogs?
(Tried to copy the embed code in here, but that was rejected as spam)

If they don't and it's to do with hyperactive, maybe give the developers a shout?

Q: how was this done you ask?

A: Pretty simple - find out the URL of the flv video in this case I looked here http://london.indymedia.org/videos.rss to find the URL -
Then, it was added to the page using the flv embed plug in
http://www.channel-ai.com/blog/plugins/flv-embed/

with the following command.

[flv:http://london.indymedia.org/system/video/2010/11/16/6037/int._with_clare_solomon.mp4.flv 480 320]

ie. [flv:URL width height]

I'm sure there's other ways / plug ins - but this one seems pretty simple.

Other question would be would you allow users to post Youtube videos on this service? Is it ok to set up a no-ip blogging service and then put on videos form youtube? If you did want to you it would be as simple as adding
